North face. Thermal insulation. Each housing unit has a solid north wall made of mud and between 40-50 cm thick. They are intended as walls that protect against the cold mountain winds and thermally isolate the interior spaces, creating areas of stable temperatures.

South face. Storage heater. On the south face of the residences, a heat storage earth block will be built (approx. 40cm or more thick). This is possible due to the thermal inertia of the mud. (The block will be inside the housing unit, behind glass, and possibly form a trombe wall.)
